Educating future blood donors is an important part of keeping our community’s blood supply available for Central Texas patients. The Tour Guide is responsible for giving 45-minute tours to school and youth at the Blood Center at 4300 North Lamar Blvd., Austin.

 

Responsibilities:

Meet tour groups in the donor waiting area and take the group on a tour of the North Lamar Blood and Tissue Center.  Provide a Question and Answer period at the conclusion of the tour in the donor waiting area.  For school groups, provide cookies, the Blood Buddy Patch Program coloring book and “I’m a Blood Buddy” community service badge.

 

Qualifications:

Friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills.  Ability to learn the tour material and respond to basic questions about the Blood and Tissue Center and blood processing, testing, and distribution.  Excellent customer service skills.  Able to relate to different personalities and age groups in a variety of situations
