Hosting at least one drive a semester allows your school to Get A Grip, and contributes to a stable blood supply, which helps the Blood Center meet its annual life-saving goals.
Building a team is the backbone of the Get A Grip program. Teams spread the amount of work required between different individuals, get new and creative ideas to improve your drives, and allow other individuals to participate in this rewarding experience.

Make every drive a success by setting goals, creating and implementing a plan, and making adjustments throughout the year. Your Account Executive will support you and your school in your life saving commitment.

The Benefits

Lives Saved - As many as two lives are saved with every whole blood donation made at your school's blood drives. The lives of hundreds of Central Texans are in your hands when your school hosts blood drives once a semester. Helping to organize a blood drive looks great on your college application.
Program Workbook - We put the tools for producing successful blood drives in your hands with our workbook.
Leadership Thank you - We will work with you to develop ways to thank your school's blood donors after each blood drive.
Coordinator E-Tips - Partners in the Hands of the Group program receive our coordinator e-tips. These e-tips feature stories about other coordinators, recognize best practices, promote upcoming events, and more – all ways to help spread the word.
Blood donor t-shirt - Every blood donor will receive a commemorative t-shirt at each of your school's blood drives.
Marketing Materials - Select the marketing materials that will work best for your school blood drive including posters, flyers, newsletter articles, and recipient stories.
Eligibility for student scholarships - Your blood drive committee members are eligible to apply for one of three $1,000 student scholarships awarded each school year.
Appointment card/hall passes - The program features customized appointment cards and hall passes which make it easy to excuse students from class to make their donation.
Use of costumed mascot Buddy B Drop - Buddy B. Drop, the Center's mascot can be on hand at donor sign-up activities or to greet your student donors at your blood drives.
Invitations to Annual High School Celebration - You and your student committee will receive invitations to the annual High School Celebration. The celebration is another way to say thanks for all you do to help your community.
Eligibility for President's Volunteer Service Award - Students who volunteer a certain number of hours over a 12-month period are eligible for the President's Volunteer Service Award. Those interested in earning this award should contact their field recruiter.
Graduation Honor Cords - Special blood donor honor cords will be provided to all your graduating donors.
Leadership Thank You - A Leadership Thank You is a letter from our CEO to your principal and school district board that recognizes the contribution you and your school have made to save the lives of Central Texas.
Recognition on www.inyourhands.org - Schools that develop creative recruiting strategies and consistently host outstanding blood drives are recognized on our website at www.inyourhands.org.
